Dry skin is an annoying condition that causes your skin to lose moisture and itch. That itch can be so annoying it can actually consume your mind. Many people suffer from dry skin and are killing themselves trying to find solutions.

Dry skin is typically caused by something in your environment or something you are doing to it. Sometimes people just naturally have drier skin than others because there are elements in their skin that are not prevalent.

You need to find out the causes of your dry skin and avoid them or treat them. Dry skin that goes completely untreated can turn into dermatitis. Dermatitis is when the skin becomes inflamed and even infected.

Your body’s natural defense against infection and the elements of the world is your skin. Protect your skin and it will protect you in return. The elements in your skin that help protect you are natural lipids and fatty substances.

Well there are a few different solutions so that you don’t have to live with that annoying itch. One of the most common mistakes people make is putting moisturizer on their skin when it’s dry and cracked. In this situation lotions are not very likely to help.

You should put some moisturizer on while your skin is still wet. Now don’t try putting it on while you’re dripping wet but you should still be damp.  Another very common problem is dry air sometimes referred to as the winter itch. If the air around you is dry it will basically suck the moisture out of your body.

Taking long extremely hot showers and baths may feel nice and relaxing but if the water is too hot you will be doing more damage to your skin. The hot water does a lot of the same things as the dry air, it will basically suck the moisture out of your skin. You can still enjoy your long baths or showers just turn the heat down a bit so that it’s not damaging your skin.

One problem that people seem to overlook is the soap they are using. There are many different aspects in different soaps that can cause your skin to dry out and remove the protective oils your skin naturally has. You should look for a more mild soap if you suffer from dry skin.

You don’t have to have dry skin for the rest of your life. Just be aware of what causes it and you can easily avoid or treat your problem.
