Richard asks…

Aromatherapy: Is their a scent that gets people in a relaxed and BUYING mood?

I am hosting one of those parties where you invite some friends over to view some products and purchases are made.
I began to wonder if their is scent that not only relaxes you and puts you at ease, but also gets you in the buying mood (the more they buy, the more I get free!).

I was thinking Lavender. What are your ideas?

Helen asks…

Aromatherapy or scent to help with weight loss? Anyone try it?

Has anyone here tried aromatherapy to help with weight loss? Did it help? If it did help, what did you use?

admin answers:

I have tried a number of different oils that were recommended in an article I read. The one that worked best for me was Ylang Ylang. It has a really nice smell that makes me feel a bit giddy and gives me a boost of energy. Another two that worked really well for relaxing me and taking my mind away from food were Bergamot and Jasmine. I also found that smelling peppermint oil helped to make me feel less hungry, or would take my mind off food all together. I would recommend that you test out a few of these and see if they help.

James asks…

What Are Some Good Places That Sell AROMATHERAPY PRODUCTS?

I don’t like to buy stuff online, so can you suggest stores that sell Aromatherapy products? – And also, a place that has a pretty good amount of different scents.

admin answers:

Last I knew, the Body Shop did not sell essential oils, they sell fragrance oils. They might be labeled “aromatherapy”, but fragrance oils are not aromatherapy. Most big shop sell products that are labeled as aromatherapy, but are not.

Online is really the best place to get good essential oils, but since you don’t want that, a health food store woud be your best bet. Even large ones such as Whole Foods usually have an aromatherapy section. Look for “pure essential oil” on the label.

Carol asks…

Can you use an air cleaner/purifier while also using aromatherapy?

I love using aromatherapy (but very new to it) and currently I am using a small glass dish with a tea-light to heat the oils. Now I want to get an air filter/purifier to clean the air in my home office (where I also use the aromatherapy oils). When I use the air cleaner/purifier, will it “clean” the scent of my aromatherapy, basically making it useless and a waste to heat the oils?

admin answers:

I don’t think it will “clean” away the aromatherapy. I’ve never used one, but aren’t air filters aimed at removing certain things from the air, like actual particles of dust and things?

The best way to find out, would be to test it out. If it does appear to take away some of the aroma, I would just use the burner closer to where I was sitting and the purifier further away.

Also, depending on what you’re using as a filter/purifier, you might be able to use your essential oils in the machine, which would solve your problem entirely.
