Independence

Independence means the creation of an English Parliament having full sovereignty over her own affairs and the right to choose her own system of government.
The English Parliament will be formed from the current British Parliament at Westminster, but with the removal of all non-English based MPs.
Independence would give England the same rights and the same responsibilities as other nations. It would give us a voice on the world stage and a say in international bodies like the UN and G8. With an English government, independence would also bring greater freedoms for individuals, families and communities within a society built on common interests.
An independent nation state of England would unite her people; give them a country of their own, and a country to be proud of. A Modern Democracy.
The FREE ENGLAND PARTY wants England to have what other countries take for granted – the freedom to decide what kind of society we want to live in and how we want to interact with the world around us.

As individuals, we value our own independence. We accept that it is entirely natural to make our own decisions, to earn and spend our own money, and to take responsibility for our own lives.
Why should we settle for anything less for our country?
As a nation, we accept the independence of other countries as normal. We do not think it strange that the people of Australia and The United States run their own affairs. We would not expect the people of New Zealand or Canada to ask another nation to take decisions for them.
Why should the people of England be any different?
Most of us also want our communities to have more freedoms. We want to have a greater say in deciding how our public services should be funded and delivered, we want to participate in decisions which affect the environment around us and we want to contribute more to the communities we live in, but it won’t happen unless we start by taking control of our country and taking decisions for ourselves. The British government has control of crucial areas like employment, the health service, education, the economy, taxation, benefits, pensions, transport, immigration and asylum, defence, international affairs, and everything else to do with England. There are MPs from other nations that are controlling these powers, and increasingly, these areas are being handed over to the European Union. Our freedoms, values and liberties are constantly being eroded by people we never elected.
The FREE ENGLAND PARTY wants to see an English Parliament, rather than the UK government and the EU having these powers. This would give us equality with other nations. With independence an English Parliament would be able to take decisions on all matters that affect England.
Successive British governments have caused immense damage to England and her people. Mass immigration has affected our public services and housing, the constant increases in taxation has made it harder for families to make ends meet, our soldiers have been sacrificed in illegal wars, and our justice system is inadequate. The British state has ignored the plight of the English and if we are to be a success, it needs to be ended.
Our nation needs a government of the people, for the people, by the people. In other words, putting England and her people first. The 300-year old Union is no longer fit for purpose. It was never designed for the modern world. It has served its purpose and is preventing England from self-development.
The FREE ENGLAND PARTY believes the nations of the United Kingdom should be equal, self-governing nations – friends and partners – free to make our own choices. Planning For Success Independence would enable England to become more successful. Many other countries have higher levels of economic growth and living standards than England. Self-government gives those nations the power to shape their country for the better.
England could have this too. England possesses 3 out of 5 of the world’s top universities, 4 out of the top 10. We have the
world’s largest financial centre, and we are world leaders in science and technology. These are all good achievements but we need to safeguard them. Lack of proper investment is leading to a growing lack of confidence in these areas.
An independent England will ensure that our achievements are maintained and expanded on. England has no natural resources except her people, and it is in people we need to invest. Our history shows we are capable of producing men and women who have made valuable contributions to the advancement of humankind.
An independent England would design policies that ensured her people reached the highest possible level of attainment. With independence, England could develop an economy based on science and technology. We could pursue economic policies designed specifically for our circumstances, to give us a stronger economy, better public services and a fairer society. England in the wor

How will England gain her independence?
England will become independent when the people of England vote for it in a democratic referendum. If a majority of those who vote in a referendum vote for independence, we would call for elections to be held to elect a new English government.

What happens after Independence?

Once a pro-independence vote has been taken and an English government elected, we would initiate a Council of the Isles made up of the former nations of the British state to negotiate the division of assets and liabilities. We would use international law such as the Convention of Vienna, to reach decisions.
Once separated from the constraints of the UK and the EU, England would be free to pursue policies for the betterment of her people

Well prior to our withdrawal from the United Kingdom, we will establish with the appropriate political parties of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and with the government of the Republic of Ireland, arrangements for the successful close cooperation of all the states of the British Isles. We propose for this purpose a consultative COUNCIL OF THE BRITISH ISLES, including the Republic of Ireland. This would be based on equal representation of each state, and would coordinate policies according to the wishes of each independent state. It would meet at a mutually convenient central location within the Isles.
Representatives serving on the Council would seek areas where members could co-operate for their mutual benefit. This could include freedom of movement across borders;
entitlement to health care if we fall ill in another country within the region. To also participate in common procurement schemes for
defence and have a common action plan for environmental protection.

Too many antioxidants? Ardyss products?

Hello. I am a distributor for Ardyss International which sells all natural, organic nutitional supplements. I want to be an informed sales person, because I really do care about health. I know that antioxidants are good for you and if you don’t eat right all the time, you are not getting enough of them. But I just came across research online that over-dosing on antioxidants can be harmful to your health. If my customers are taking on average 3 supplements that contain antioxidants, is this bad for their health?

Actually, there’s no solid evidence of ANY benefit from antioxidants, and some that certain antioxidants are harmful in certain subgroups (beta carotene in smokers who drink modestly, for instance). Also, you have a hard sell if you’re selling to the educated, who understand that “all natural” and “organic” are meaningless garbage terms. It’s good to see your heart’s in the right place, but you have no science to back you, at least not yet.

Why does the USA support Israel?

I live in Indianapolis, Indiana(USA)
*-It is doubtful you will. But, please read and consider all of this before replying. It did take me a bit to compile this information. I am also happy to provide multiple unique sources for each stated fact below*-

While I know we can not allow anyone to beat up, push around or bully the USA. I am curious why the government feels it absolutely necessary to defend Israel at such great financial cost, human life, direct attacks on the USA when Israel offers the USA nothing in return. Israel offers no special treatment for any US citizen if not Jewish. The wars which were fought in the ME within the last 35 years which involved the USA less than 1-4% of the forces were Israeli. While Israel is in a war torn part of the known world given the size, population & geographic makeup it is not a mandatory strategic military location. While I understand and acknowledge the desire to police and bring piece to the known world this is truly not our objective. Ireland, China, Russia, Africa Korea and numerous(LOTS) of other nations are at war, their people are being murdered, slaughtered, sometimes literally skinned alive and raped. Yet, it is Israel we fight for not them.

Risk management suggests to protect ‘investments’(relationships/livelihood as relevant here) going outside of the box is sometimes(often is) necessary, expected or required. However, if their is no return on the investment, it is unsuccessful or otherwise drawing serious negative or unwanted attention/actions it is only reasonable the ‘asset/investment’ be dropped.

The US has supported and dropped support of many nations many times. Many nations have done this tens of thousands of times. Amnesty International, United Nations, World Health Organization, Red Cross along with much of the world have and continue to say Israel acts in violation of humanitarian rights or violates international laws. At last count the UN had ruled against Israel 40 + times. I believe the US vetoed each one.

I am no attorney. I do not understand international law. However, I assume Amnesty International, United Nations, Red Cross & World Health Organization do. I guess they all might be nazi’s.

I was hoping for a more rational or intelligent response. As I mentioned in the question which you did not read Israel is of no strategic military value given its geography / size. We already occupy other nations in that area. Thus far in all the wars we have fought, paid for and supported in that area of the world Israel really has not helped.
Neither of these responses were good answer. Consider the question and these responses. I guess the community will vote for one but neither were good

I try to guess what would happen to America if all Jews leave it and move to Israel.I think the same what has happened to Russia. So why not to back Israel? It is very logic if you look deep in the problem.
People say Jews bring money to the land where they live. But not when they leave the land.

The Spanish moss danced in the wind beckoning me to play with it as I stared out of the window of my father’s Dodge magnum. The air smelled of sweet olive trees and swamp water it was a surprisingly light smell like lilac and honeysuckle. The paved road turned to gravel and a bald cypress tree reached for me as if to try and stop my journey. Sorry little buddy… tried that already I thought looking over my shoulder at him. I wasn’t thrilled about returning to my mother and Tomas after 7 years of no communication.
Indigo Court was written in blue letters on a handmade sign as we turned onto a dirt road that ran beside the blood river. Staring at the deep green water I shuddered and tried not to think about the reason I had left so many years ago. My mother’s 2 story cottage seemed huge in comparison to the image that I had burned into my skull at 9 years old. The wraparound porch was lined with rocking chairs that looked all too welcome and a bridge that lead to the huge deck Tomas had built. I stared at the house in awe…if I didn’t know better I would have sworn it let out a sigh of relief when I stepped out of the car. A ray of sunlight broke thru the tress and sparkled on the green tin roof that had kept me awake with the rhythm of raindrops as a small girl. Whether I liked it or not this place was home now.
My mother had two huge weeping willow trees guarding her walkway with their drooping branches. The stone walkway had been swept clean by the wind. I turned to stare one last time into my father’s stern brown eyes. He didn’t have to say a word they said it all for him. The last 2 years had been rough for us. He being a soldier was harder on me than he would ever know. He had sprung the information of reenlistment on me 3 days ago over dinner. He was going to be doing a tour in Europe and didn’t think I needed to go with him “you need some time with your mother” was his only response to my failed bargaining attempts. I held my breath as I watched the silver handles on the French doors slowly turn unleashing her. Adelaide came busting toward me her once raven black hair a whirlwind of salt and pepper. Her pretty face was set off with green eyes as fierce as my own.
She swept me into her clutches and wept into my long red hair. Looking at the contrast of my smooth pale skin to her more olive complexion…I asked myself if I was really hers. I stared past her at Tomas…poor portly Tomas. He was 10 years younger than my mother and twice her size. His short 5’3 frame held at least 290lbs…But momma loved him and that was all that mattered at least that is what she told me. He had a drinking problem and loved to push me over my non existence edge. Grabbing my bags she led me up into the house that smelt of baby powder and Lysol. Her bamboo floors were still clean and polished. The stark white walls were home to black and white photographs. Tomas carried my bags upstairs as mother led me to the formal living room.
The cathedral ceiling was framed with several windows that were from floor to ceiling letting in an abundant about of sunlight. The windows were clothed in black and gold sheer curtains with lampshades to match. A huge black leather wrap around sofa hugged the far right corner of the room. A few leather seats graced the room here and there. The thing that caught me more than anything was the granite fireplace. It was neat and clean like it had always been…I made a personal goal then and there that I would have a fire in it before things were said and done.

VERY good compared to the usual fare on Y!A. I liked your imagery and your introduction to the characters. It’s borderline too-descriptive for my taste, but if it’s a first draft then there’s nothing to worry about. Keep going! You’ll do well to just keep moving forward without worrying whether or not this bit is doing well. It IS going well, believe me, now keep going and don’t let yourself get stuck on making it “perfect”!

Personal grudge:

“Staring at the deep green water I shuddered and tried not to think about the reason I had left so many years ago.”

I HATE it when writers do this. If you’re going to have your character mention that there WAS a reason she left, without mentioning the actual reason, it’s like taunting the reader. “I know something you can’t know because there’s no way you’d know it without me telling you!” is what I hear the writer taunting. Don’t mention it at all, or tell me the reason. I don’t like knowing there WAS a reason, only for the narrator to keep it from me.

I want to decorate my bedroom, but I like too many different styles and can’t narrow my ideas down. Would love to live in a little stone cottage in England, so thought of wallpapering with stone type wallpaper (and what else?); Already have a very nice comforter with a beautiful deep colored tropical scene (maybe bamboo, etc.); Thought of just doing blue and white (quilt, small white linen covered reading chair, blue walls); and on and on. At this point my brain is spinning. Any ideas? Thanks

Chapter I
Life is so boring. Sometimes, I just wish I wasn’t alive. I only get this feeling when I really want something, and I’m not getting it. Right now, I feel that way. I know that sounds hopeless, but I never get anything at all. I am Katarina and I am sixteen years old. I’m in grade 11. I have a very far out dream, which is to travel all around the world; over and over again. I love exotic places, but I’ve never been anywhere out of my small (and very boring) hometown, Florida. No, I don’t live in the hot, sunny Florida. I live in Florida, Missouri. What’s odd about this place that you’ve probably never heard about in your entire life? Only ten people live here. Yeah, I know. Now you get it. I get very bored in this little town, because there is no school and no jobs, because there isn’t enough money. We somehow, though earn just enough money to stay alive. It’s a pretty cheap town, although Mark Twain (the author) was born here. At least one small town person became famous. I live with my mother- my dad died when I was six from a fire in our house. My mother and I escaped. I don’t remember him, although I wish I did. We don’t even have photographs of him. My mom doesn’t have a job, and no money, either. She can’t save any money, although whenever she saves any, it’s usually spent within twenty four hours flat. I don’t think she really cares about me. My dad was usually the one who cared before he died, but now he’s gone, and I can’t do anything about it.
You would think she would forget this usually boring day, like every other plain year, but this year, I wake up to the familiar tiny stone hut, lying on my pile of hay on top of the concrete floor, and my mother is standing over me with a small engraved wooden box in her hands. She greets me happy birthday, and hands me the box. I hold it in my hands. I never get any presents. Never.
“It was your grandmother’s,” she whispered, “She would have wanted you to have it,”
“Thanks,” I muttered, wondering what was in this box.
My hands found the lid, and pried it open. What was inside was beautiful. A necklace with a carved bamboo cross lay there, just waiting for me to put it on. My fingers had the urge to pick it up, and they slowly moved towards the open lid. I carefully picked it up, and slowly slid it around my neck. As it was on my neck, I felt beautiful. That was a feeling I’d never had before. I saw my mother had a small smile on her face. Maybe she did care about me. I graciously thanked my mother, and bounded towards the door. As I opened it, it creaked like there was no tomorrow, slammed shut. I walked and walked for forty five minutes, and ended up at my favourite tree- a giant apple tree with tons of draping branches. It was so beautiful. You could climb under the branches, and sit against the stump, and you would be in a little exotic looking room made up of branch walls. I did exactly that, and lay down on the grass. I took off the necklace, and took a good look at it, smiling. It seemed to be hollow. But, it was made of bamboo, so that made sense. But, what didn’t make sense was that there was a little crack upon the middle of the cross, going around. I pried at it, and the two halves pulled apart. A tiny slip of yellowed paper slipped out. I read it over and over again, but the words stayed the same. In a scrawl, they read:
‘You have found the treasure of me, my story, and my life lies in this cross. Just wait and see. As you read, this necklace is thinking. If it shall give you a tour while you’re blinking. Throw away this note, and then you’ll see that not everything is just what it seems.’
So, I threw away the note, and the wind blew it far. What next? I couldn’t remember. Maybe this was a joke from my mother. Suddenly, a large gust of wind sent dust flying everywhere, and a blinked the dirt out of my eyes. While I was blinking, I saw black and white pictures. The first was of a beautiful girl, about fifteen years old dressed in rags. She was living in a small hut, and washing the floors with a brush and a big bucket of soapy water. She was dirty, and she didn’t look like she had much hope. The next was of the girl again; in the hut, where she was before, but the bucket of water she was using to wash the floor was on its side, and water was everywhere. She looked exasperated, and her hands were on her head. The next showed a strict looking woman (possibly her mother?) belting her as hard as she could on both palms with an angry look on her face. The girl’s face held a grimace, but she did not cry. The fourth picture showed the girl, sitting under an apple tree that looked very similar (no, identical, just smaller) to mine, and looking at a picture of a middle aged man with laugh lines. It was labelled ‘Father. 1784-1819.’ it was very sad to see. This girl’s father had only lived until thirty four. But, as I real
got cut off. just a main idea.

Alright, I’m not entirely sure what to think of this. Granted, you’ve got a better story pretense than 90% of the others who ask people to read their story, but that’s not saying much. The good news is that you’ve got grammar (as long as you don’t overuse parentheses, this being an example of a good use), but you really need to work on some things, such as character and plot; you know, most of the things that a story needs.

Your character hates her life because its boring? That’s boring. If a character’s only real drive to do anything is because they have nothing better to do, then they’re technically no better than someone sitting down writing an event-less tale. Also, what’s wrong with her body? Her hands have “urges”, and her eyelids seem to be controlled by the weather. Also, despite never getting presents, like ever, her super-special necklace seems to last all of 10 seconds. Oh, wait, I mean a 45 minute-walk, which, according to the geography of Flordia, Missouri, would lead her right through a lake, to an apple tree which apparently resembles a willow. Oh, also, nobody has a name. Did they forget them, or lose them in the fire?

Also, what time period does your story take place in? Before Mark Twain’s time, during, or after? Your time periods are all out of wack, especially seeing as that little reference almost seems like its trying to set up a plot point. If she did live around when Mark Twain was born, then, according to the timeline, she would still have six years until he was born, making that single reference impossible. I may be spending too much time on this, but this is all built to make another point; even back then, people didn’t live in stone huts.

I’m not sure where you’re going next with this whole plot, but I don’t really care. If you were going to do something with the characters’ desires to travel the world, then why put in the father references? Even if she does somehow get magically sent away on some whirlwind-world-travel adventure, at this point, I would be happier if Nameless Jenny just stayed in her town, rotting away in lonely desolation, with her mother who no longer cares about her.
