Can I make natural baby shampoo?

I hope you parents have read the recent media attention to possible carcinogens tested in baby toiletries (links to sources below).

Granted these are trace amounts so small that they aren’t listed on the ingredients label. But does anyone know what the cumulative effects are over time?

While the right thing to do is to petition industry and the politicians to make changes, it’s going to take a long time to do.

We could buy natural baby-safe shampoos, like those from California Baby (www.californiababy.com), but they are EXPENSIVE.

So my question: does anyone know how to make homemade, natural baby-safe toiletries? Shampoo, lotion, soap, etc.

Even if you don’t know how to make it, please share your opinions on natural baby-safe store-bought toiletries.

Is regular natural coconut oil not as good as extra virgin coconut oil

When i search for news and articles on the health benefits of coconut oil everything i read mentions extra virgin coconut oil and i love what i have read but i already bought regular natural non hydrogenated coconut oil and I don’t know if it will be the same benefits as the recomended extra virgin coconut oil. Does Bath & Body Works have an “item limit per customer” policy?

The other day I was in B&BW for the semi-annual sale, and I decided to stock up on the Twisted Peppermint body scrub because I absolutely love it. Anyway, I was one of the first people in the store when it opened, as there were about 10 other people waiting outside for the doors to open. When we came in, I immediately was given a basket and went straight to the display of the Twisted Peppermint scrubs. There were 45 there, so I put them all in my basket and asked the sales associate if she had any left in the back. She said whatever was out was what they had left, so I decided buying 45 of them would certainly hold me out until the next holiday season when it came out, especially since I had another 15 at home. So that’s 60 scrubs right there!

Well, here’s where the trouble began. I was standing in line waiting to pay, and a few other customers came in asking about the Twisted Peppermint scrubs. The sales associate pointed to the display where they were, and saw there were none left. Then the customers saw I had all of them in my basket, and one woman starts SCREAMING that it’s unfair that I took all of them. I told her I had been there before her and was intending on paying for them, and was already waiting in line. She threw a fit and insisted the manager be called out to “settle” the problem. The manager reluctantly came out, as the store was busy, and the customer starts telling her there should be an “item limit per customer” policy to prevent a single customer for buying the entire stock, because apparently it was unfair that I was allowed to buy 45 and she wasn’t allowed to have any. She starts bitching that I should give her 10 from my basket because it was unfair to her. Long story short, I told her to get lost and I bought my 45 scrubs while she b*tched out loud the entire time I was being rung up.

My question is, is there an “item limit per customer” policy, saying that one customer can’t buy more than a certain number of product? I’ve never had this problem before! I also shop at Yankee Candle and when my favorite scent, Cherry Lemonade, was discontinued I went and bought about 80 tarts, 50 votives, and 18 large jars they had left in that scent. None of those sales associates said anything…

Is this being greedy… mom’s christmas gift?

So for christmas, I’m thinking about getting my mom one of those bath and body works 3-wick candles. Now, they have them on sale for 2 for $20. I’m not much of a candle person, but I want to become one. What sort of foods promote relaxation or decreased anxiety?

I’m not looking for an exotic herbal supplement or anything, just foods that generally help decrease stress levels, or foods to avoid that tend to cause it. Stress relief methods would also be helpful! I’m just looking to relieve a little of the tension and anxiety I’ve felt lately. While it’s not at a dangerous level, it’s not particularly healthy, and it’s kind of mentally taxing.

Are there any methods to prevent anxiety, depression?

For the last few months I have started to feel constantly on edge, nervous and paranoid. I immediately jump to absurd conclusions (for example I think my partner is cheating on me or lying to me, even though she would never do such things) and I am starting to hate going out with my friends on nights out. I am only 20 and until now have had a great social life, many friends and a happy family. But despite this, I still can’t shift the nervous or anxious feeling I have. I am starting to lose sleep and my heart beats fast an I shake uncontrollably and random parts of the day. Me and my girlfriend have started to argue a lot lately about trust and I feel as though I am becoming a controlling Jealous partner because of this.
I feel as though I need to calm myself down but am at a loss as to how to go about it. I have tried many relaxation techniques and meditation but so far I haven’t came across any that have worked. Any help would be very much appreciated as I really need to shift this feeling before I wreck my social life and my relationship completely.

Im terrified of slumping back into depression again, i’m so so down over nothing?

I suffered badly from depression for over a year when i was 18-19 and antidepressants/supportive boyfriend pulled me out of it.
i’ve not been struggling too much over the last couple of years as been using some relaxation methods to con troll anxiety which helped, but now i cant cope. My head is all over the place and i feel so lost but nothing has changed and i’m scared that I will go back to how I was before and I might try to kill myself and fail my degree. I just want all this nonsense in my head to go away. Im so miserable over nothing. I feel like i’d be able to talk about it if something had actually happened to be unhappy about. ive tried counseling but i’m so used to ‘acting’ and having a front on that i don’t seem messed up when i talk to anyone. and its just silly cos there’s nothing to be sad about so i cant explain it. I have a lovely life, no money problems, a gorgeous loyal boyfriend, but depression and no sex drive.
I don’t want to go back on antidepressants cos they were horrible to come off.
my GP just sends me to the uncounselingng service, but when I go there it doesn’tn benefitit me cos there’s nothing to be sad about and talking just brings it more to the front of my mind.
I just want to feel better and do well with my degree and life and be happy.

Ive been feeling much worse these last couple of weeks because ive been off uni for easter and supposed to be just studying alone all day, but ive just been messing about doing nothing. I know i need to be more active and be more social but I just find it so hard. I go out with friends but don’t enjoy myself and get sad that iv’e wasted money.

Has anyone gone to a massage school in BC (Canada)?

ie West Coast College of Massage Therapy or Vancouver School of Bodywork and Massage…?

Are you currently happy in your profession or if you are a student, what are you planning to do after school? And what was your reason for going into massage therapy?

I’m looking to study in BC because an RMT must have 3000 hours worth of training..just seems as if the depth of instruction is better as opposed to other programs…600 hours..1000 hours..but I guess if you’re a really great masseuse anyway, then the hours of training won’t matter as much.

And also, what kind of person were/are you persuing this profession..? I am very caring and genuinely want to help people. I’m really into holistic and natural healing. Love being in calming environments. I think massages are amazing..and good to give as well as receive. Money is obviously an incentive as well, but in general I feel like this is a good career match for me. Input from those in/practicing in the biz?

I want to give my girlfriend a treat. I want to give her a massage with aromatherapy oils. I have heard that there are oils that are already warm to the touch, but I’m kinda old fashioned. Is there a way to warm massage oils like with a candle or a candle burner? How does one go about warming oils? What is the correct way to do this? Or should I just stick to the already warm to the touch oils?
