Dead Sea Salt Benefits

Although you may have never heard of this fact, there is a sea salt that actually provides numerous therapeutic benefits for the human skin, but this is not any ordinary sea salt from any ordinary ocean, so what is it and where does it come from? It comes from the Dead Sea in between the countries of Israel and Jordan of course! (hint hint, the title).

That doesn’t answer the question of WHAT it is though, well you are about to learn not only what it is, but also what it does and how great the benefits can be for your skin. Unlike the common salts in the many oceans of the world, which are all composed of about 90% sodium which is not the slightest bit beneficial to human skin, salts from the Dead Sea are only composed of 10% or less (depending on the location in the water). The other 90% consists of many other minerals that are actually incredibly beneficial in many ways for the skin of all people in the world. Truthfully, most of the minerals within the Dead Sea Salts are actually present in the human skin cells, unfortunately they will often be depleted for various reasons which induces dry skin and other skin discrepancies. The fact that you can actually get these naturally present minerals in the skin back after they are depleted is amazing, and even more so when you are getting them back by simple means of a quick swim or bath! The benefits of dead sea salt always varies from person to person, but some of the major and common benefits are listed below:

Healing properties reside within the magnesium that is present within the minerals in the dead sea salts. Skin cells and tissue are quickly healed when properly using the dead sea salts due to the presence of magnesium.
Although you may recognize sulfur for its strong and unpleasant odor, it is actually commonly known and used as a disinfecting agent and is present within the dead sea salts.  Calcium may be present in milk and many other necessities of today’s humans, but I bet you didn’t know that when applied the skin, it can strengthen the cell membranes and actually soften your skin pores.
Potassium balances the moisture in the skin, which is possibly one of the most significant factors of the dead sea salts, considering that regular sea salts do nothing more than UNBALANCE the moisture levels in your skin and body do to the immense amount of sodium present.
Bromide is probably the least known mineral out of all of these, but it actually soothes the skin and muscles, which is one of the most important factors of dead sea salt. There are many other factors that induce benefits from the dead sea salts, but the important thing is that it actually does benefit people in many ways and could benefit you as well. If you start using these salts in the bath immediately, you will notice softer, and healthier skin, as well as easy relaxation during and after a long bath with the salts present.

The term allergy refers to hypersensitivity to a substance which is called an allergen. For those among us who suffer from allergies, it is no secret that they can be a pain in the neck. Allergies, despite how many you have and what you are allergic to, are extremely uncomfortable. Some persons have seasonal allergies that prevent them from enjoying the outdoors at certain times of the year while others have day to day allergies that plagued them constantly. The three main categories of allergies are food allergies, chemical allergies and inhaled allergies. Some may even have food allergies that restrict their diet. Whatever your allergy, the result is discomfort. Many times, when dealing with allergies, the main means of reducing your allergies is through medication. However, there are more natural ways to deal with some of the allergies that you may have. One of these methods is through aromatherapy which employs the use of essential oils to alleviate some of the problems caused by allergies.

One type of allergy that affects persons who have sensitive skin is eczema. Contact eczema is easy to detect and it can be aggravated easily as well. Wearing clothing made from certain materials as well as using chemicals which are found in soaps and make-up may result in your eczema acting up. Another form of eczema is atopic eczema which tends to affect those who have a history of asthma, hives or hay fever. Atopic eczema is also triggered by eating certain foods. However, for relief from allergies such as eczema, it would be helpful to use chamomile oil or lavender oil in your bathwater. Approximately three drops should be enough to offer some form of relief.

However, if a humidifier is placed in the room with someone who has asthma, the symptoms can be reduced. You can use essential oils such as rose oil, sage oil, chamomile or frankincense into the humidifier and this would offer increased relief from the symptoms of asthma.

One of the more complicated allergies to deal with is hay fever. It is a respiratory allergy and its sufferers tend to have other allergies and react to allergens such as dust, mold, pollen, feathers and cleaners. Some of the symptoms of hay fever include irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes and nasal passages which results in runny nose, swelling of nasal mucosa, nasal congestion, sneezing, and headaches and so on. Typically, the treatment of hay fever would include the use of antihistamines and other drugs which provide temporary relief from the symptoms. However, there are grave side effects to these treatments such as skin problems, drowsiness, vomiting, and diarrhea.

When using aromatherapy in the treatment of hay fever, essential oils that have expectorant, anti-inflammatory, immune stimulating, and restorative properties should be used. Essential oil such as German and Roman chamomile, Blue Tansy, Peppermint and rosemary should be placed in a cup of boiling water and inhaled.

Aromatherapy can relieve pregnant women of many of the physical as well as emotional discomforts that are associated with pregnancy and childbirth. Aromatherapy can be used by women who are having difficult pregnancies. Jasmine is said to have properties that allows it to induce and speed up labor. For women who are also suffering from post partum depression, inhaling jasmine oil has proven to be effective as a method of treatment.

If you have suffered from acne for a long time, you know how acne makes you feel. It does not help that a lot of people are under the impression that acne are caused by bad hygienes. Some people may suggest that you need to wash your face more often, or scrub harder, or use stronger soap. However, following their advice could make your acne even worse.

Contrary to what you may have been told, acne is not caused by dirt. The problem has more to do with the way the skin cells lining the inside of your pores react to your body’s natural hormones.
